SMS Consent & Messaging Policy

Last updated: March 24, 2026

This page describes how Conduit for Contractors ("Conduit") handles SMS messaging, including how consent is obtained, what types of messages are sent, message frequency, and how recipients can opt out. This page is provided for regulatory compliance and transparency.

1. About Conduit

Conduit is a field service management platform used by contractors and service businesses to manage customers, bids, jobs, invoices, and teams. The platform enables contractors to send transactional SMS messages to their customers for legitimate business purposes. Conduit is operated by Conduit for Contractors LLC, based in Arvada, Colorado.

2. How SMS Consent Is Obtained

Conduit is a multi-tenant platform. Each contractor (business account holder) manages their own customers. SMS consent is obtained through the following process:

2.1 Customer Provides Phone Number to Contractor

End users (the contractors' customers) provide their phone number directly to the contractor during the course of an existing business relationship. This occurs when a customer:

  • Requests a bid or estimate for work
  • Schedules a service appointment
  • Signs a service agreement or contract
  • Provides contact information in person, by phone, or via a contact form

2.2 Contractor Enters Customer Information Into Conduit

The contractor enters the customer's name, phone number, and other contact information into the Conduit platform when creating a customer record. When a phone number is provided, the form displays an SMS consent checkbox with the following disclosure:

"This customer consents to receive transactional/informational SMS messages regarding estimates, invoices, job updates, and service notifications from your business via Conduit for Contractors. Messages frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of service."

The SMS consent checkbox is optional. If it is not checked, no SMS messages will be sent to that customer. The contractor must attest that the customer has consented before checking the box. Visual proof of this form is available at conduitforcontractors.com/sms-consent-form.

2.3 Contractor Initiates Each Message

Before any SMS message is sent, the contractor must explicitly initiate the send action within the Conduit platform. This occurs when the contractor:

  • Clicks "Send via SMS" on a bid or estimate to notify the customer
  • Clicks "Send via SMS" on an invoice to deliver it with a payment link
  • Clicks "Send via SMS" on a completion receipt
  • Schedules a job (which may trigger automated appointment reminders)
  • Transitions a job to "en route" or "completed" status

No messages are sent automatically to customers without a prior business interaction and an explicit action by the contractor.

2.4 Platform-Level Consent Requirements

Conduit's Terms of Service (Section 11.2) requires that all business account holders obtain proper consent from their customers and comply with all applicable laws, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), before sending any SMS messages. Conduit's Privacy Policy (Section 3) further documents the consent and data handling requirements for SMS messaging.

3. Types of Messages Sent

All messages sent through Conduit are transactional in nature. No marketing, promotional, or advertising messages are sent. The following message types are supported:

Example: Acme Electric: Work on Panel Upgrade is complete! View your completion receipt: https://www.conduitforcontractors.com/receipt/def456

4. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies and depends on the volume of business transactions between the contractor and their customer. Messages are only sent when triggered by a specific business event (such as sending an invoice or scheduling a job). There is no fixed recurring message schedule.

Typical frequency per customer: 1-5 messages per active service engagement. Customers with multiple ongoing projects may receive more messages. Automated reminders (appointment reminders and overdue invoice reminders) are limited to a maximum of 1 appointment reminder per job and 3 overdue reminders per invoice (at days 1, 7, and 30).

5. Opt-Out Instructions

End users can opt out of SMS messages at any time using the following methods:

  • Reply STOP to any message received from Conduit. This immediately opts the user out of all future messages. The system records the opt-out and no further SMS messages will be sent to that phone number.
  • Reply HELP to receive assistance information and contact details.
  • Reply START to re-opt-in to messages after previously opting out.
  • Contact the contractor directly and request to be removed from SMS notifications.

Opt-out status is enforced at the platform level across all message types. Once a customer replies STOP, no contractor on the platform can send them SMS messages through Conduit.

6. Carrier Disclosure

Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. SMS messages are sent from Conduit's registered business phone number.

7. Data Protection

Phone numbers, message content, and opt-in/opt-out data are:

  • Never sold to third parties
  • Never shared with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes
  • Never used for purposes unrelated to the Conduit platform
  • Transmitted securely via encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Stored only as long as necessary for service delivery and regulatory compliance
