Customer Text Messages

Send useful customer updates by text while keeping consent, templates, and replies under control.

Conduit can text customers about the work and their payments. These messages come from your own local number, so customers see one consistent number for your company.

What can trigger a text

Customer notifications cover the moments people usually ask about:

  • Job status updates, including En route and Completed
  • Appointment reminders, normally sent the day before
  • Bid follow-ups and overdue invoice reminders
  • Payment confirmations
  • Material-added updates and completion receipts

The exact messages sent depend on the templates you enable. New company templates start turned off, so review them before you expect automatic messages to go out.

Set up notification templates

Open Settings → Notification Settings. Each event has separate SMS and email settings where available.

  1. Choose an event, such as Appointment reminder or Payment received.
  2. Open the SMS tab and edit the wording.
  3. Use the listed merge fields to add details such as the customer’s name or appointment time.
  4. Turn the template on when it is ready.
  5. Use Send test to check the message before it reaches a customer.

Some reminders also have timing controls. For example, overdue reminders can run at 1, 7, and 30 days, and appointment reminders can be scheduled for the day before the visit.

A customer needs a phone number and SMS consent before Conduit can text them. If the customer replies STOP, texts from your company stop. If they later reply START, consent is restored and messages can resume.

STOP and START apply to your company’s number. A customer’s choice with another contractor does not change their choice with you.

Your company number

The first time your company sends an SMS, Conduit assigns your own local number. Customer replies route back to the company that owns that number, keeping each contractor’s conversations separate.
