A background job runs every night. It creates jobs and invoices as two separate steps: the job is created ahead of time so it’s on the calendar for tracking hours or notes before the invoice ever goes out, and the invoice is created on the occurrence day itself, whether Autopay is on or off. With Autopay on, that invoice is charged to the saved payment method immediately and the customer gets a receipt rather than a bill to pay; with it off, the invoice is delivered per your delivery setting. Card charges resolve immediately; a bank-account (ACH) charge settles over a few business days. This nightly pass only looks at occurrences from the last 3 days, so a schedule left untouched for a while doesn’t suddenly bill a backlog once you get back to it, use Generate Now on the schedule instead to catch it up.
