Choose how customers can pay online

Lesson 20 of 25 · Job → Invoice → Payment

Online payment methods in Payments settings sets the company default: turn Credit / debit card and Bank transfer (ACH) on or off. Both are on until you change them. With only one on, the payment page offers just that method (no bank transfer discount when bank transfer is off, and no card prices when card is off). With both off, customers pay by check or cash: the invoice page still shows the invoice, its totals and the PDF, but a How to pay box with your Payment instructions replaces the Pay button, and invoice emails have no Pay link. The instructions start as “Make checks payable to your company. Mail to your address.” and you can rewrite them; left empty, customers see “Pay your company by check or cash.”

Any single invoice or estimate can override the default from its Online payment setting on the edit page: Company default, Card + Bank, Card only, Bank only, or Off, check only. An estimate’s setting carries to every invoice created from it, including the deposit invoice sent when the customer accepts. Estimates themselves never take payment online; the deposit is paid on its invoice.

The setting is enforced by Conduit, not just hidden: a check-only invoice cannot be paid online, charged from Receive payment, or charged by autopay, and a card-only or bank-only invoice refuses the other method.
