Job → Invoice → Payment walks the whole loop end to end. This one goes deep on the job side: creating a job in either mode, the job list and pipeline board, and everything that happens on the job detail page once work starts, status, assignment, clocking in, time entries, photos, and notes. Every widget below is the real Conduit screen, driven by a simulated Sullivan Electric account so every control actually works.
Create a job
Click + New Job from the top nav, the dashboard, or a customer’s detail page. Conduit first asks whether you want to start from an estimate; skip that to land straight on the job form. The form handles two flows on one screen: a toggle switches between Schedule for Future (booking work that hasn’t happened yet) and Log Completed Work (catching up on work already done), and the rest of the fields adapt to whichever you pick.
Job Type comes from a list your company edits in Company Setup; pick one below to see it, then compare against the editable list there. Billing Type (Flat Rate vs. Time & Material) controls how the eventual invoice’s labor lines are calculated. If you type a labor rate with none saved yet, Set as company default rate appears so every future job can start from it.
- Skip the estimate-first prompt and go straight to the job form.
- Leave the toggle on Schedule for Future.
- Search for and select Priya Anand as the customer.
- Choose a job type from the list.
- Notice job types come from Company Setup, not a fixed list.
- Switch Billing Type to Time & Material.
- Type a labor rate and set it as the company default.
- Click Create Job to save.
- Assign a technician from the What's Next prompt that follows.
- Flip the toggle to Log Completed Work instead.
- Log a day worked with a date and hours.
- Switch to editing an existing job and save a change.
New Job form: Schedule for Future / Log Completed Work toggle, customer search, job type, billing type, labor rate with company-default save, Days Worked grid for multi-day logging, and technician assignment from the What's Next prompt.
Browse the job list and pipeline board
The Jobs page has two layouts. The default list groups jobs standalone vs. by project, with status filter chips across the top. The Pipeline (kanban) view groups every active job into one column per status; drag a card between columns, or use the mobile quick-action buttons on a narrow screen, to move it forward. Archive all clears an entire Completed column in one step, and archiving a single job hides it without deleting it.
- Filter the list to a single status.
- Switch to the Pipeline board.
- Move a job forward a status.
- Archive a job from the board.
- Archive every completed job at once.
- Switch back to the list view.
Jobs page: list / pipeline toggle, status filter chips, standalone vs. project grouping, kanban board with per-job quick actions, and bulk archive on the Completed column.
The job detail page: status, assignment, archive
The job detail page is the working surface for a single job. The status chip shows where it sits in Scheduled → Confirmed → En Route → In Progress → Completed (with On Hold and Cancelled / No Show as off-path terminal states); the transition buttons move it forward or sideways. An unassigned job shows an Assign banner with every technician one click away. Edit reopens the same form used to create the job. Archive hides a finished job from the active list without deleting it. A job linked to plans or a takeoff shows a Linked Plans / Takeoffs card with a quick link to each document.
- Open the job detail page.
- Move the job to its next status.
- Notice the Edit link opens the same job form.
- Assign a technician on the unassigned job.
- Archive the job.
- Notice linked plan documents on a job that has one.
Job detail page: status transitions, assignment, edit and archive actions. Switch between four sample jobs with the buttons at the top of the widget to see each status.
Clocking in and logging time
The assigned technician clocks in and out live from the job page; Conduit silently discards a clock-out under one minute, treating it as a mis-tap rather than a real entry. Every entry (live or manual) shows up in Time Worked, where you can add, edit, or delete individual entries, or log several days at once from Log Hours Worked for after-the-fact catch-up.
- Clock in, then clock out.
- Notice sub-minute clock-outs are discarded automatically.
- Add a manual time entry.
- Edit a time entry's hours.
- Delete a time entry.
- Log several days at once.
Clock and Time Worked: live clock in/out timer, per-entry add/edit/delete, and a bulk multi-day log form, all on the job detail page.
Photos and notes
Photos attach directly to the job so the crew and the office share the same record; open any photo to attach a note. Notes and comments run as two separate threads on the same page: Job Notes stays internal, while Comments can be shown to the customer.
- Upload a photo.
- Attach a note to a photo.
- Post an internal job note.
- Post a comment on the customer-visible thread.
Photos and notes: photo upload with per-photo notes, and two separate comment threads, internal Job Notes and customer-visible Comments.
Deposits and invoices from the job
A job doesn’t have to wait for completion to collect money. Request Deposit opens a deposit invoice pre-filled with percent quick-fills pulled from the source bid. Once a job carries more than one invoice, for example a paid deposit plus the final work invoice, View Invoices opens the full list instead of trying to guess which one you meant.
- Open the deposit request.
- Use a percent quick-fill from the source bid.
- Create the deposit invoice.
- Open the invoice list on a job with more than one invoice.
Deposits and invoices: deposit request with bid-based percent quick-fills, and the multi-invoice list for a job carrying a deposit plus a work invoice.
Generating the final invoice from a completed job, and everything that happens to it after, is its own guide: Job → Invoice → Payment.
