Invoicing and Payments (Deep Dive)

Create a standalone invoice

Most invoices come from a completed job, but you can also create one directly. From the Invoices page, click + New Invoice. The form has two halves, details up top, totals down below, and the totals update live as you type prices and toggle Taxable on each line. Pull pre-priced items from your pricebook with Item Catalog, or type a custom line with + Add Item.

Click Add markup on any line item to expose two extra columns, Cost and Markup %, that let you track margin without your customer ever seeing it. These line-level margins roll up to per-invoice, per-project, and per-customer P&L; see Analytics & P&L for how it aggregates.

  1. Search for and select a customer.
  2. Open the Item Catalog.
  3. Add Panel Upgrade (200A) from the catalog.
  4. Add a custom line item.
  5. Name the custom line.
  6. Toggle Taxable on a line item.
  7. Click Add markup to reveal Cost and Markup %.
  8. Type a cost so Price recalculates from your margin.
  9. Set the due date.
  10. Set the tax rate.
  11. Apply a flat discount.
  12. Save the draft.

New Invoice form: Customer, Job Name, Issue & Due dates, Item Catalog, custom line items with Cost/Markup tracking, Tax %, Discount, and Save Draft / Create & Send.
